Say No to Drugs Workshop

On January 2nd, 2019, the District Education Department Ludhiana organized an interactive workshop at Government Girls Senior Secondary School Samrala. The workshop provided information to Officers from different schools to start a "Buddy Program” for comprehensive action against Drug Abuse. More than fifty schools from Ludhiana participated. Mr. Prabheep Singh, Senior Coordinator, DA Ludhiana attended the workshop which was conducted by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of Government School. The aim of the buddy program is to provide information and create awareness for students class VI and above so that they are better equipped to not choose addictive behaviors. Some of the information shared was what are the drugs and their side effects, how to say no, how to recognize the signs of use in someone you know and what to do about it. Teachers were trained to discuss the harmful effects of drug use, to supervise the buddy groups, provide solutions through communications and provide positive feedback.

Positive Mentoring Through Meditation Workshop

A talk was conducted at Darshan Academy in Ludhiana on Jan 14, 2019. Ms. Usha Arora, the resource person, presented her talk on ‘Positive Mentoring through Meditation’ for teachers. Ms. Arora also presented a talk on “Don’t Worry, Be Happy through Meditation’ for the students. She scattered pearls of wisdom and awakened the minds. It was an eye-opener session. Ms. Arora shared different aspects and benefits of meditation. Physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual benefits of meditation in the teaching process were discussed. Tips were given to strengthen the soul and personality. She also threw light on the Spiritual Quotient [SQ], and ameliorated how the Intellectual Quotient [IQ] and Emotional Quotient [EQ] can be balanced by SQ. How to overcome challenges, and stress faced by teachers and students were discussed. Overall it was a highly interactive session leaving a smile on all faces.

Lohri Celebration

Lohri was celebrated at some of the Darshan Academies in North India with great enthusiasm. A bonfire was lit. Students performed “Giddha,” the folk dance of Punjab, and sung songs on this occasion. They learned about the importance of Lohri. An encouraging speech highlighted the culture of the Punjab. The whole atmosphere in the campus was upbeat and absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. Darshan Academy Dasuya invited some children from the slum area to join the celebrations. They were offered traditional Lohri food snacks.

Science Project Week

Science Project activities were conducted at the Darshan Academy in Ludhiana from January 9th to January 12th, 2019. An exhibition was organized for parents to see the work. Topics of science were divided for each class from Nursery to XI (Science). Each class worked on the assigned topics, such as ‘plants and trees’, ‘fruits and vegetables’, ‘non-conventional sources of energy’, and ‘pollution’ etc. Brilliant models were presented by students. An Urban Rainwater Harvesting Management System, presented by XI-Science, was the center of attraction. Demonstration and explanations were given by the participants, and the visitors were impressed by the performances. All classes did their best in making the exhibition successful. The LMC members, and the Principal Ms. Rajdeep Kaur Aulakh, appreciated and congratulated the teachers and students for their efforts and hard work.

Darshan Academy Amritsar Starting in 2019

We are happy to announce the opening of the 22nd Darshan Academy in the heart of Punjab. Darshan Academy Amritsar is the fourth Darshan Academy in the Punjab region, along with schools in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Dasuya. The campus is situated right on Majitha Road in Fatehgarh Churian. The lush green campus spreads over an area of two acres. Darshan Academy Amritsar will be starting Nursery and Kindergarten classes on 1st April, 2019. The school offers an activity based, nurturing and multisensory learning environment. Darshan Education Foundation has been providing students with an excellent all-round education since the inauguration of its first school in 1995. Serving education for more than two decades, 21 schools are running successfully across India and Colombia.
