Mothers Day Celebration, Lucknow

(May 23, 2017)

On 13th May, 2017 Darshan Academy, Lucknow organized an Art and Craft Exhibition to celebrate Mother’s Day. The Welcome to Mothers was given by the Head Mistress and followed by five minutes of meditation. Next the children expressed their heartfelt love by giving a speech dedicated to their mothers. Then fun activities and games, a fireless cooking and mehndi were added to the celebration. Class IV and V students presented beautiful songs in praise of mothers. The Art and Craft exhibition displaying the creative skills of the children was much appreciated by all. The distribution of prizes was icing on the cake. It was a day filled with love and exuberance.

Health and Hygiene Day Celebration, Lucknow

The Pre-Primary section of Darshan Academy, Lucknow celebrated Health and Hygiene Day to learn the benefits of good health and hygiene habits. Good health was described as a balanced and nutritious diet, pure water, and personal cleanliness. A hand washing exercise was conducted by the teachers in which children demonstrated the proper way to wash hands with soap. Children enjoyed singing rhymes while washing their hands. It was a fun way to learn the importance of this action.

Orange Day Celebration, Lucknow

The Pre-Primary section of Darshan Academy, Lucknow celebrated Rasna and Orange Day on 2nd May, 2017. The children, who were dressed in beautiful orange dresses, were welcomed by the teachers. A special assembly was held with a special “show and tell” activity. Children were shown various orange objects and asked to name them. The importance of healthy fruits and vegetables such as oranges, carrots and pumpkins were explained to the children. Finger printing, bud printing and coloring were done with great enthusiasm by the children. During lunch time students were served Rasna which they relished. The children left for home with sweet and fun filled memories of the day.

Fancy Dress Competition, Jalandhar

On 22nd May 2017 a Fancy Dress Competition was held at Darshan Academy Jalandhar. The students from pre-primary and primary wing showcased their talent with zest during the competition. Looking beautiful in their colorful costumes, the students came dressed as a doctor, teacher, policeman, butterfly, Bharat mata, and fruits among other things. They spoke about the character or thing that they depicted. Students were graded on their costume, presentation and dialogue. The competition was a successful platform for students to prove themselves and to develop confidence.

House Investiture Ceremony, Delhi

“Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life.” Believing in this dictum, Darshan Academy organized the House Investiture Ceremony on the onset of the new academic session to appoint the young students as leaders for the session 2017-18. Mr. Nirbhay Narula, the Assistant Governor of Rotary International District, Zone-2 was the Chief Guest and Ms. Suman Sikka was the Master of Ceremonies for the program. The event began with the ceremonial lamp lighting followed by an entertaining welcome dance. Principal Mr. A David welcomed the gathering with his enlightening words. Ms. Veena Ahi, Senior Academic Coordinator, administered the oath taking ceremony where the young leaders confirmed their objective “to be responsible and organized”. The leaders received their badges and sachets by the honourable Chief Guest and Principal. On this day, the future leaders reaped the fruit of their hard work and achievements. “Wings of Fire”, the musical ballet presented by the four houses, grabbed everyone’s attention. This presentation ignited the spark of achieving success in everyone’s heart by showcasing the hardship, simplicity and inspirational qualities of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The distinguished Chief Guest Mr. Nirbhay Narula addressed the gathering and was glad to make the school a member of the Rotary Interact Club. He honoured the students by awarding prizes to the winners for their achievements from the inter-house competitions during session 2016-17. The most awaited championship trophy for the best house of the year was awarded to ‘Darshan House’. Ms. Anjali Keswani, in charge of Darshan House along with the captain, vice-captain and other team members witnessed the proud moment by receiving the trophy. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the Senior Academic Coordinator, Ms. Veena Ahi, who appreciated the sincere efforts of everyone for making this event a big success.
